Dum Dum is a popular area in the city of Kolkata which falls under the Metropolitan Development Authority. This locality derives its name from the Persian word ‘damdama’ which means a raised mound or a battery.
Dum Dum is located at a distance of approximately 10 kilometers from the city center and it also houses the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
